A wildfire, wildland fire or rural fire (finnish: kulopalo or metsäpalo) is an uncontrolled fire in an area of combustible vegetation occurring in rural areas. It often originates from natural causes; like lightning strikes or personal causes by human negligence. In the past, sparks from steam locomotives were a common cause of ignition, but nowadays fires are often caused by trees falling over power lines.
